JAMIE LEE!
THE BEAUTIFUL ANGEL!
By Darkzen
Greetings! Friends this week I bring you this interview our super talented friend Jamie Lee! Belgian-born singer who has released enough with the Azylya band, with who has participated in many festivals as large and Metal Female Voices Festival, Damen Of Darkness Festival, among others, also for days has told us about his New album which is a mixture of Indie Rock and New Wave created through emotional inspirations and enhanced with dramatic lyric in French.

Well let go with the interview!

Thank you very much for this interview!

You’re welcome!

You have a beautiful voice and you are very attractive!

Thank you! I'm not an opera singer as in many voices females metal groups. I sing with my heart and with emotions, I hope people realize this.

Jamie Lee, singer of Azylya band, what's your story behind the name Azylya?

AZYLYA is a coined name with a sounding of Asylum. The first album is a concept album that tells a story of the first song to the last. The story of a girl who undergoes incest and that her father filed in an asylum for fear of being dénnoncé. There, she will live with real mental patients. She will live the anguish, fear, inhuman treatment ... This album was released in late 2013 under the Italian label Wormholedeath and registered at the Realsound studio (witch is our producer as well.).

How you started your career, musical and vocal?

Around the age of 8, I enrolled in courses musicals, in parallel, I took singing lessons with various professors and dance classes. At 12, I was part of a troupe of musical and have recorded an album with it named "Big Bang Blues". I continued to take singing lessons at an American professor: Gyle Waddy, who lives in Brussels, I worked on the classic song, rock and also variety.

You have influences inside and outside the metal?

For metal, I could cite many bands that I love but my first discovery was Epica, I love the voice of Simone. I also like Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, ...
Outside the metal, I like many different voices and styles. I started with Avril Lavigne ( her first album), Alanis Morissette, Muse, Queen, The Cranberries, .. I also like singers such as Sia, Adele ... or London Grammar.

What is your vocal range?
I am Soprano.

Azylya is Described as a musical concept conceived in your mind and heart. What was your vision or concept of the band?

Yes I wrote the story when I was 14 .. I have a lot of songs in my drawers, but there I was attacked me with a story.

Many artists have different skills to the songwriting, can you describe your inspiration for the process to write a song for?

I watch a lot of new and old movies and I find my inspiration in what I see, hear and even in film music. When I write, I see everything in pictures ... I could make music for all the songs because I see all the details.
The musicians receive written history song by song for inspiration for the compositions.

How was the experience of having played in the MFVF the last year?

The MFVF was an amazing experience, this organization is fantastic. The groups who have played have a huge talent. The public is very present and very supporting.

What has surprised us Azylya for this coming year or the next?

Normally our second album signed with the same label.

Now, tell us about your solo project? What was the idea?

I had the extraordinary opportunity that Epictronic Label (in connection with the Wormholedeath label) propose me a French album, but in a completely different style (Indie rock). I received compositions by Ricky Daga, composer and producer of the album. I put my vocals and my texts and was registered in Italy in the Titans Labs Studio this summer. The album "My love Monique" 7 songs in French and 3 in English. It will be released on March 30 but the Label already made a big ad campaign and I thank them all.

What will be the thematic or concept of the album?
It's not a concept album like AZYLYA. Each song is about a different theme. Things that touch me intimately but also themes of life, happiness and atrocities. The rhythmic and joyful compositions of Ricky contrast with my texts often sad.

Thank you very much for your time and space! the last words are all yours!
Thank you for this interview and I thank the people who read this text. I'm 21 and I have a lot of joy to share life moments with you, your readers and the public. The solo album is a thunderclap, switch from metal to soft rock and in French is a risk, but I took it because I took a lot of fun writing and recording with this team.
