According to Bob Suehs of Rock N Roll Experience, Italian rock/metal act LACUNA COIL dedicated the song "Heaven's A Lie" to late SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray during last night's (Monday, May 24) concert at Recher Theater in Towson, Maryland.

Scabbia is the longtime girlfriend of SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR guitarist Jim Root (both on photo).

Tarja speaks about her new album in the recent issue of Kerrang

Former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen has completed work on her third solo album What Lies Beneath.


Tarja, who decided to self-produce the follow-up to 2007's My Winter Storm, recorded the album between Petrax Studios in Hollola, Finland, and her home studio in Beunos Aires, Argentina. And the singer tells K! that the 12-track album is her most diverse yet.


"This album is my baby and it's so great to have that freedom," Tarja says. "It really is a huge step for me and a big step forward from the last record. There is more clarity and diversity on this album; there are very dark, epic orchestral songs and some with really heavy riffing, too." she adds. "I can't see myself doing just one of those styles because it wouldn't be me."


On the subject of the album's lyrical content, Tarja reveals that What Lies Beneath is an examination of humanity's dark underbelly.


"I had the title about two years ago," she explains, "and it inspired me to write songs about people's dark sides; the things that others never get to see. Human beings can be such weird creatures.!"


What Lies Beneath will be released on August 16 through Spinefarm.

Oblivious Signal Sign New Management

After weeks of speculation, the female fronted, melodious hard rock band Oblivious Signal announced that they have officially signed with acclaimed manager John Tovar. The move comes on the brink of completing their first full length release "Into The Night," an album that parts from their previous metal sound and verges into the realm of more mainstream rock. While when the occasion calls for it, Feliciano will still belt out her renown screams, they are saved for live events and not prevalent on the radio friendly album.

This CD represents not only their new sound and the progress they have made as musicians, but will include songs done in Spanish. The Puerto Rican heritage of front woman Cristina Feliciano allows this band to stand out even more from the rest, with her capacity to sing all of their songs in Spanish for special shows.

Oblivious Signal recently played several notable shows, including a performance at NAMM, headlining at The Viper Room in Hollywood, and the Kryptonite Festival in Miami.

Feliciano is enthusiastic about the bands future, stating "We feel this is a great opportunity for the band, and this is going to make us stronger in many aspects. The Tovar Management Group along with the public relations dept of Static Management are going to provide that extra pull we need in order to really make it to the next level in the industry. We are very excited, and can't wait to see what this year holds for us as we move ahead with this strong team of people that believe in us."

Tovar, known for his work with Marylin Manson and The Mavericks among others, had been given several of the band's demos over the last year from fans of Oblivious Signal and finally made arrangements to meet with the band and talk about their future.



After meeting with Oblivious Signal and seeing a live performance he was impressed with their talent and potential enough to immediately put together contracts with them and set them up to have songs re-mixed by colleague Keith Morrison.

He was especially impressed by Feliciano's abilities as a vocalist in the hard rock genre, a genre Tovar says is "a man's world. It shouldn't be, but it is."
He elaborates, "The reason I have passion for that band is because Cristina has one of the best voices I've heard in the genre of rock and metal. And she has, the fact that she has, there's very few good, active female singers. I think this girl has excellent potential . They are great live, have a ton of energy live. She is great fronting the band. It's very hard to find someone like Cristina."

Benedictum's Veronica Freeman to Sing For the "Lyraka" Metal Opera

Vocal powerhouse Veronica Freeman (Benedictum), will be doing session work for the Lyraka project.

Lyraka is described as a "Wagnerian Opera Metal" project that encompasses a set of highlights cds, as well as a 3-d animated movie. Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MSG, ALCATRAZZ) and Tommy Heart (ULI JON ROTH, FAIR WARNING, SOUL DOCTOR) are also contributing vocal tracks.
Andy DiGelsomina, the composer and lead guitarist of the project, commented: "I was massively inspired by Veronica's performance on the Benedictum cds. She is not only viciously heavy when neccessary, but has a phenomenal sense of dynamics. Veronica is as gloriously heavy metal as you can get, and we are excited about working with her. "

The first volume of the cd set, "Lyraka Volume 1", is set for release in March 2011.

TARJA: The cover artwork for "What Lies Beneath" and "Falling Awake"

The cover artwork for "What Lies Beneath", the forthcoming solo album from former NIGHTWISH frontwoman Tarja Turunen, can be viewed below:



The session took place in Finland in February. Jens Boldt took the photos and Dirk Rudolph created the actual artwork.

With production handled by Tarja herself and selected tracks currently being mixed by U.K. producer Colin Richardson (famed for his work with MACHINE HEAD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and SLIPKNOT, among others), the follow-up to 2007's "My Winter Storm" "looks set to take Tarja's unique musical mix of drama 'n' decibels to a whole new level of success," according to a press release.

"We worked on 33 songs this time around from which I decided to record 17," Tarja explained. "It has been great to have the freedom to produce my own record for the first time; these sessions have been such a gift, a real learning process and a true joy. In many ways, it feels like the first time…"

The lead single from "What Lies Beneath", title to be confirmed, is tentatively due in early August, with the full album to follow later that month.


This is not official yet, but this image seems to be the cover of the first single, "Falling Awake", that will be released on the 6th of August, according to the website.

Lady Angellyca ( FOREVER SLAVE vocalist ) is here with a new band, ANGELLYCA, also featuring guitarist and composer Sergio Valath (Forever Slave guitar, bass player and composer). She have chosen this media to talk about her new project in a interview:

Pau: When was Angellyca born?

Lady Angellyca: Sergio Valath (guitar, bass and composer in Forever Slave) and me started composing new songs at the end of 2009. We decided that this could be a new project. And we called ANGELLYCA, though we hadn't announced it till now.


Pau: How is the sound or style of Angellyca?

Lady Angellyca: ANGELLYCA looks for the melody, the dark beauty, express feelings is the most important for us. Of course, Angellyca is a metal band with a present sound (maybe we are closer to gothic metal).


Pau: When will the album be released? and What label will release it?

Lady Angellyca: I'm not sure what day exact we will release our first album. But that will be one day between October - November. Now the composition process is nearly over and in a few months, we will enter the studio. The album is self financed and we haven't looked for a label. We have not thought about that yet. It's soon.
