TARJA TURUNEN: the three duets with Doro

Tarja Turunen talked at the press conference in Brazil about a future colaboration woth Doro Pesch.

TarjaTurunen.com.br: Some days ago, Doro told the German press that you'd be in her concert, celebrating the 25th aniversary of her career, this December. Did you accept the invitation?
TARJA: Yes, I did.

TarjaTurunen.com.br: And what is it gonna be like?
TARJA: Hmm... I'm not totally sure if I should tell you that... (looking to Marcelo Cabuli) Can I tell the news? (pause) I'm only asking for permission! (laughs) There will be a cooperation between me and Doro in the future, I'll sing two duets with her, and she'll take a part in my album, in one track, and I'll take a part in her 25th aniversary album... (emphasising) And there'll be the concert in december in which I'll be singing with her.

TarjaTurunen.com.br: Could you tell us which songs you're gonna sing?
TARJA: Well, there'll be a new song and an old song, that you already know, and there will be another new song that I'm recording this September.

Tarja new video Enough

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen
reportedly shot footage for her new video, "Enough",
during a break on her recent South American tour. A short
behind-the-scenes clip from the video shoot can be viewed
below.

"Enough" will appear on a special-edition version of
Turunen's latest solo album, "My Winter Storm",
to be issued before the end of the year.

"My Winter Storm" was released in the U.S. at the end
of February. The CD was made available in two exclusive U.S.
versions via Fontana: the standard and deluxe
editions (the latter featuring extra tracks not released
elsewhere, as well visually stimulating bonus DVD content).

"My Winter Storm" was produced by Daniel Presley
(FAITH NO MORE, JEWEL, THE BREEDERS),
who has been joined in the studio by a truly stellar line-up
of musicians: Doug Wimbish on bass (LIVING COLOUR,
ANNIE LENNOX, JOE SATRIANI, JEFF BECK,
MADONNA, ROLLING STONES), Alex Scholpp
on electric guitars (FARMER BOYS) and Earl Harvin
on drums (SEAL, PET SHOP BOYS, AIR), a
player personally selected by Tarja after she saw him
stealing the show at a SEAL concert. Keyboards and
programming, meanwhile, are being provided by Torsten
Stenzel
, whose previous credits include NELLY FURTADO,
MOBY, TINA TURNER, VANESSA MAE.

Rachel Barton Pine performs Arrangement Of PANTERA's 'Cowboys From Hell'

Rachel Barton Pine performs Arrangement Of PANTERA's
'Cowboys From Hell'

Video footage of acclaimed classical
violinist Rachel Barton Pine and cellist Mike
Block
performing Rachel's arrangement of
"Cowboys From Hell"
by PANTERA for a faculty
concert at Mark O'Connor's Strings Conference in San
Diego on July 31, 2008 can be viewed below.

"I've been a big heavy metal fan since I was 12, groups like
PANTERA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX,
METALLICA
, SLAYER," Rachel, 33, said in a
2004 interview. "So it was very natural for me to go on
these [rock radio] stations and talk about my favorite bands,
and I think it helps break down those barriers for my peers
— to hear that a classical musician can also like the music
that they like."

Pine's heavy metal penchant comes to the fore in
1997's "Storming the Citadel", according to The
Republican
. With her "rock trio" STRINGENDO (Barton
Pine
and Edgar Gabriel, violins, and Brandon
Vamos
, cello), she covers her favorite songs by bands
ranging from LED ZEPPELIN ("Heartbreaker",
"Black Dog"
, and "Stairway to Heaven") and
BLACK SABBATH
("Paranoid") through AC/DC ("Thunderstruck"
and "Back in Black") to METALLICA ("One"
and "Fade to Black").
