MARIFER MALO FUZZ TO THE METAL/ROCK ARE AFRAID!!

FUZZ ROCK TO THE METAL/ROCK ARE AFRAID !!

Marifer Malo in exclusive!

By Darkzen

¿That is the opinion of a great actress and singer of this great musical genre?

Good these big question answered us our friend María Fernanda Malo Alvarez was born in (Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico November 19, 1985), also known as Fuzz or Marifer Malo, is a Mexican actress and singer.

Speaking of Fuzz in real life is totally turned on a girl, she is one of the best friends of the actress Dulce Maria, is an only child. One of his favorite bands is HIM, before being thrown into the cast of Rebelde had a rock band in Monterrey, she has a lot of personality decorates his room, one of his favorite hobbies is playing guitar and piano, the blonde want more study music and philosophy.

In one of his works (The Game of Life), Fuzz worked with actor Mike Biaggio in Rebel shortly after working with Mike again in the role of Javier Alanis.

From 2005-2006, he joined the cast of the Novela Rebelde youth, in which he played the villain Sol de la Riva, who was a rival of the protagonist Mia (Anahi).

In 2007, the young blonde in the film So Afraid wind. A new version of the Mexican classic of the same name in the 1960s. In this movie she lives Jessica.

Fuzz, Mexican rocker has an account on Myspace and Youtube, where you put your videos and your music.

Well after this preamble, we go with what she said!

Darkzen:

¿Who is Marifer really? Tell us a little about yourself!

Well my name is Maria Fernanda Malo, born in Cancun Quintana Roo one November 19th and ... what else you want to know? Haha

¿Because Marifer likes Rock / Metal? That influence has on you

The rock in general came into my life as something very natural by my father who was always rock. From the belly of my mother listened to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd so it was not like one day I was angry with life and I liked the rock, it's just the way I grew up.

¿It is the nice girl or bad girl like you see on tv or movies?

I do not think much on labels but I think if as bad girl get a woman who does and says what he wants then I am bad girl.

¿Tell us what you musical influences ?

Classic Rock As a child and then went to the punk and hardcore but I also like some metal bands .

¿Any favorite male or female voice?

Ville Valo of HIM

¿What kind of style do you like really and why?

For most of the bands I like are more toward the punk , but it's weird because my favorite band is HIM . I am a hopeless romantic , that's the truth , but I also believe that the values say " essential" punk culture are doing much needed in this society where almost no one is consistent and no one takes action .

¿For you what is the difference between Rock and Metal in general?

Well it does not seem to be a "difference" rather think that Metal like any other genre of Rock is a consequence , a mixture of several things.

¿Do you like dark or gothic literature and why?

Sure, I think my first crush was somehow Dracula , in my house we had a very large library and read it too small, but I also think it's something I always call the dark side (not necessarily bad) things .

¿What are your favorite bands ?

It is hard , never end to actually name them all but hey a few : HIM , Bad Religion , Social Distortion , Black Sabbath , Pink Floyd, ...

¿The label people just knowing that one likes heavy music , what do you think of this?

People will label all , if you went in Rebel eg you may not like the punk JAJAJAJA it seems silly , I prefer to live and do things my way , welcome who likes and who does not , well, we save the time.

¿You went to Chopo here in Mexico ? ¿What do you think of urban clan 's inside this super place of cultural diversification ?

I long to Chopo and since childhood , I like going to see , to walk I like to see that somehow we're all looking for something .

¿What do you think Metal wave that is occurring female?

I love, I recently went to Otep concert and took a good deal of angry female Metal.

¿What projects do you have in mind?

In mind millions! But I think what is really cool in a movie with Do not Panic Films

¿Any vídeo clip in mind?

I'm always making vídeos to songs in my head I can not avoid.

¿Do you think about the music Metalera or Rockera here in México?

I think missing places and options but I am proud that at least there is movement in my country.

The last words are all yours for all our dear readers!

Greetings to all and thanks for the interview!

Thank you very much! My friend! For this interview! And for giving us your time to know more about you!

WHAT ABOUT US ! ! ! WITHIN TEMPTATION REVIEW

WHAT ABOUT US ! ! !

REVIEW ! ! SHARON DEN ADEL & TARJA TURUNEN !

By Darkzen

Really Sharon den Adel gave us a great surprise! With this participation of Tarja Turunen! their voices blend perfectly without one another exceeds the other, the pace and hard body makes it very manageable with rocker style between modern and classic! The style that has this little disc, is very like the past album Within Temptation, really is consolidated in the style, evolving towards a perfect combination between the Metal / Rock

Album cover shows us what they want transmit, without the obscure, trasparente and unique between these two great of music Rock / Metal

With this great combination of songs gives us WT of what will be perhaps the style own of next album !

Within Temptation

Symphonic Metal/ Rock

Rating: 10/10

Paradise :

This is a track completely Rockero ! Has an entry symphonic heavy body and melodic, with advancing the song, the voices of these two muses ! It's incredible, the beautiful voice of Sharon with tessitura white and rhythmic gives simplicity and impact, the beautiful voice of Tarja is mixed nicely with the of Sharon which none of the two is opacada by neither ! Really is beautiful the harmony ! The choir that makes tarja to half of track is simply beautiful ! In combination of guitars heavy that give a touch rude !

Let us Burn

These following songs are version Demo , which is can listen of background , an entry rhythmic with presence of guitars, and with the beautiful voice of Sharon den Adel, in this track the handling of voice and the feeling that is felt makes an excellent combination , his voice and the instruments of background are equated both, making that are heard as one.

Silver Moonligth

Has an entry rhythmic , melodic and rockera , like some reminded him a great song of previous albums, the combination of a guttural is excellent , giving a touch strong without falling into how dark , a harmony between two voices which gives you a touch metal good and finalizing with the beautiful voice of Sharon .

Dogs Days

The presence of the piano is indisputable at the entrance and in what will of the song, with a rhythm sequence rocker , the voice of Sharon is very noticeable throughout the song , which is the best chord very melodic and symphonic , really a song with character without falling within the conventional, and the final part imperative that piano that gives his touch to this great song.

what I love about the songs of WT is the message which brings every song itself, which relates a part of us that there is more to see what happens around us that our feelings or just talk.

Here a liryc of Paradise:

There's no sense, the fire burns
when wisdom fails, it changes all
the wheel embodies all that keeps on turning
Blood red skies, I feel so good
no innocence we play our ROLE
the wheel embodies all where are we going
fill in all you'd expect the wise to be wiser
fallen from GRACE
fill and all I guess

we should have known better
cause what about us
isn't it ENOUGH
No we're not in PARADISE
This is who we are, this is what we GOT
No it's not our PARADISE
But it's all we want, find it's all that we're FIGHTING FOR,
though it's not PARADISE

You & us, or I & them
there comes a time to take a stand
The wheel is watching all, it keeps on BURNING
The venom works it's like a CURSE
A trojan horse when will we learn
The wheel embodies all, that keeps RETURNING

MARY ZIMMER!!! THE APPLE OF TEMPTATION!!

Hi all! This time one of our dear friends Mary Zimmer gave us a brief but interesting interview! a great singer of heavy genres like Melodic Death, for all the fans here a bit of it!

She has a powerful voice and a beautiful angel! that combination!

Mary Zimmer is a vocalist from Madison, Wisconsin. She is most well known as the former singer of the Madison-based metal band, Luna Mortis (aka The Ottoman Empire).

She released two albums and one EP with Luna Mortis (two as The Ottoman Empire).

Mary is a classically trained singer who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has also studied additional techniques for screaming and singing with the Zen of Screaming creator, Melissa Cross.

She is also an active member of the Eve's Apple professional community of female singers on Facebook. Eve's Apple is a collaborative group of female metal singers (some co-members include Lisa Middlehauve, Charlotte Wessels, Melissa Ferlaak-Koch, Gogo Melone, Zuberoa Aznarez, Claire-Lyse Von Dach) who present articles and interviews designed to encourage female singers in rock and metal.

well so here go with the interview!

Darkzen: Hi Mary!

Mary Z: Hi Roberto! Thanks very much for the questions

1. First of all, who is Mary Zimmer???? Who is she on and off stage?

*Mary is a professional singer, I suppose. On stage it really depends on what type of music it is. I tend to change my performance and image to fit the genre. The way a front person or vocalist can perform is really dependent on musical style. For example a dance group wouldn't headbang necessarily. I do the same thing, if it's rock or metal it directly determines how the performance will go. Naturally, I can get a lot more involved and get the crowd more involved if the music is more "metal" and heavy.

2. How was your journey to get to this genre??? Because you chose?

*Well, I didn't discover metal really until about age 18 - I was always in musical theater until that point. I discovered metal when I was training to be a classical singer - Tarja reminded me a lot of myself and I was so impressed to hear a REAL opera singer with a heavy band. Then I got into darker bands like At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Carcass, Cradle of Filth and I knew I just had to do this genre of music. I've been doing it ever since...

3. What music influences you??? In addition to what it says in your bio

*I listen to all kinds of music. Every genre out there. I am super well-versed in metal, I kind of feel like a walking music catalog and when you get to know a genre SO well, you start looking for other things to listen to. I listen to everything. Outside of metal I probably listen to gothic/synth/new wave the most. Artists like London after Midnight, Sisters of Mercy, Peter Murphy etc.

4. That's what he likes to do to Mary Zimmer after a good concert, your hobbies???

*After a show I just like to hang out, I have been known to be a bit of a party-er in the past and have definitely been ejected from a venue or two after the show. I try not to do that anymore, I'd rather just have a good time and chill...the wild side gets the best of us all sometimes, I think!

5. Mortis Moon behind that name??? And even still playing together or definitely not??

*Luna Mortis is the name we changed our band name to because our former record label, Century Media, wanted us to change our name from "The Ottoman Empire" to something else. We did it, we liked the name and we're still going to use it, although, there are fans who still know us as "The Ottoman Empire" and like that name better. We created the name Luna Mortis, so we do like it but in the end, artists should just stick with what they want. A label can tell you to do all sorts of things you shouldn't and leave you hanging out to dry in the end... As far as are we together or not, well, that question is being asked a lot these days. Our full song catalog is now uploaded and available for sale/streaming and we are presently toying with the idea of a reunion in summer of 2013. We have been officially dissolved since 2010.

6. Because the group was dissolved? Problems genre???, Is initiating as Progressive Thrash after, and finally Power Melodic Death, You are a pretty talented singer and voice!

*We don't have any issues with the genre, most people can appreciate different aspects of our music. There are a lot of styles pulled in to create the Luna Mortis sound and we attract a variety of fans/listeners to the music. Thanks for the compliment on my vocals, I do find it very useful that I can do multiple things (singing, screaming etc) it allows for a lot of options. We do not, however, use my classical or upper register for Luna Mortis as it is too operatic and doesn't go with our sound. We did try that in the past and didn't like it at all so that is one limitation we have chosen that I agree with.

7. What was the most representative album of the band and why???

*I would say the most representative album is "The Absence", our final release as Luna Mortis. It shows what every member of the band can do at the top of their game and the songs are some of my favorites. It is the most well-produced album also, and the sound is very huge.

8. What do you think of the phenomenon of Women in Metal, of the role is taking a female voice in the music scene in all genres????

*Women are becoming a mainstay in metal and are reaching out to all sorts of genres, vocal styles and instruments. I think nowadays people are getting beyond the novelty of having a female in the band and audiences are really looking at bands for the band itself. If they like it and the singer happens to be a female, excellent, but I think at the end of the day female or male, fans are looking for good music, period.

9. Already a member of Eve's Apples, which projects in conjunction with some of them on your mind???

*I have a web series and a one-song recording project with my co-apple VK Lynne. We are called "Glittermortis" and there is an entire Facebook page for this project and web show.

10. Any new music or video clip for this year?? Alone or together?
You also singing instructor??? How about classes Melissa Cross Master?

*Yes, this year I have my project with VK Lynne, a secret band that is yet to be released/announced and a possible Luna Mortis reunion. There are lots of new things coming and I'm constantly updating Facebook and Twitter about these things. I am a vocal instructor for about 9 years now and do voice lessons via Skype. I have studied with the amazing Melissa Cross and I recommend her lessons/dvds techniques to anyone -singer or screamer.

11. In another genre you like to experience???

*I pretty much tend to stay with rock, blues and metal as a singer. I will do some guest work with classical vocals and I am experimenting with an electro/industrial project at the moment, so that is fun.

12. Thank you very much! For your time! The last words are all yours to all our readers

*Thank you for your interest in me and for the interview! It was a pleasure. To the fans, keep in touch this year because come mid-2013 my page will be exploding with big announcements.

thank you very much to you! Mary! you are great!

GOGO MELONE behind the darkness ...

GOGO MELONE behind the darkness ...

by Darkzen

This time interviewing again into a great singer and friend, that his talent is not only singing, but also an expert in graphic design and an amazing art gallery! Which we have looked at all the beautiful and dark designs that impact more than one! Gogo thank you very much for this new opportunity!

He was born on July 17, 1985 in Greece and is the lead singer of Atmospheric / Doom / Gothic Metal Luna Obscura.

She belongs to this training since its founding in 2000. Apart from his participation as lead singer in the band, is also a graphic designer, and has done covers for bands like Black Thoughts Bleeding (Ger), Theodore Ziras (Gre) and Bob Katsionis (Gre) among others, has also done other countless designs that really are amazing.

His favorite styles when designing are emotional, dark and surreal. Love the red, black and white, and their interests are digital art, photography, music and film.

Well, in order to cover all work ceases then gave me the interview to learn more about their excellent work, also for any procurement with respect to work performed as a designer she can contact her to let them really satisfied!

Darkzen:

Thanks Gogo!

Gogo Melone who is behind the scenes?

A quiet person with a lot of concerns, sensitivities and too much thinking mind :)
I was born in a quiet beautiful city in Greece and grew up as a normal child with the
normal ups and downs. From a very young age, I discovered my skills in art and soon
I began to experiment in different forms. Today Art is not only a hobby, became my
passion and my job of living. I suppose it couldn't be different and I feel extremely
happy for that.

What inspires you to create your designs?

Many things can feed my mind and wake up my soul. My favorite music, a good movie or
a documentary, a beautiful walk in nature, every past memory, every single day, my fears,
my dreams, other dark or fantasy artworks…different things. I don’t love books and
guess it sounds weird but I don’t know, somehow I always found reading very boring.
At least for me it’s almost impossible to keep my interest alive, prefer to watch movies.
Although I do read books but most of the times it's for research.

You think of your own, I mean you really like gothic or mysterious?

Of course I like it! In matters of art, you always have to follow your heart and I guess my heart
speaks a lot in me too. The only thing I wanted is to be myself, mysterious or not….doesn’t matter. Sometimes my artworks are dark and cold, sometimes are gothic or romantic, other times are cute and fairytale but this is exactly the way I like to be so it’s 100% of me behind.

You think that a design or a picture is worth a thousand words for advertising?

Absolutely yes! And not always matter the quality or techniques behind , if the picture
captures things and explode our emotions then many people have to see it. Unfortunately
some talented artists and their works remain in obscurity and this hurts me a lot but
I believe that if you love what you do and work hard for it, soon or later you will start to
achieve your goals.

Have you ever worked with bands of other genres like Black Metal or Death Metal?

Well it’s been always different genres on my list :) Edge of Serenity, To-Mera, Black Thoughts Bleeding, Catanemia, Theodore Ziras, Lovelorn Dolls and many others which are not Gothic, not even close to Gothic Metal but so far I have met so many great musicians and bands and have done amazing collaborations worldwide so I guess the less thing that counts is the genre of music. Although I would like to experiment more in Gothic Metal, Doom and Death Metal but the most important is to keep making good collaborations and gain more experiences.

Do you like Photography?

Yes, even if I have done some steps in Photography can’t consider myself photographer but it’s very inspiring to see works of other brilliant people. Old time classic for me were Cecil Beaton and Philippe Halsman. I also like Steve McCurry and some modern photographers like Allan Amato, Tim Walker, Nicolas Guerin, Winter Kelly or Natalie Shau.

What do you like the best in a picture or an artwork? What do you normally see first?

I usually like to see pictures as thumbnails first and then to look them closer in a bigger size. Maybe I have a small obsession with that but honestly some of them looks so clear, the details and colors look clear enough no matter the tiny size and I like that. Despite this, the concept and the colors composition always count a lot. I especially love dark combinations and artworks that give me the feeling of cold winter.

Do you offer other markets and services outside of "Metal"?

Yes, there is a small business in the city I live named Quality Web Studio which provides web design services and hosting plus other graphical services. For the last 2 years I work with them! The clients are different, most of them are businesses and stores so it’s kind different from me too and the things I have used to make but I found ways to adapt and everything is great.

Would you like to include pieces from your own art collection in albums of your band?

Hell yeah! I have already done several graphical things for my band but this time I’ll do the artworks for our upcoming album. This will be the first time so everyone has high expectations about everything, consider myself as well. No doubt that will be very interesting experience!

What your friends are saying about all? For me you have a very creative mind and dark!

Thank you very much! Well I’m not sure how they see me… some of them are extremely supportive, buy stuff from me, have an opinion to share. Some others are more restrained on their reactions, I mean they still like my work but don’t make it a huge theme. I think I need both sides in my life because it helps me to keep balance and stay focus on the things that I want to do. It would be very bad to get my brains air or have many people around that will tell me all the time "How good I'm" and stuff like that.

Few words about my Art:

"Gogo Melone is the female singer of the atmospheric death/gothic band Luna Obscura and work as afreelance graphic designer/illustrator since 2007. Her art is a mixture of Digital Art and Photography and it's dark and feminine. Until today have worked with numerous bands and artists like Black Thoughts Bleeding, Theodore Ziras, Bob Katsionis, To-Mera, Lovelorn Dolls, Edge of Serenity, Catanemia and many others. Her work has been featured lately on Photoshop Creative Magazine, issue 90 in August 2012.
